The mission of PWSA of WI, Inc. is to Support, Educate and Advocate for persons with Prader-Willi syndrome, their families and professionals in meeting the challenges of this disability.
Programs:
- Information and Referral Program uses various telecommunications (phone, email and fax) to provide cost effective, time efficient measures to support, educate and advocate for persons with Prader-Willi syndrome and all who support them across the State of Wisconsin. It connects families and professionals to resources available in their communities.
- Outreach Program provides consultative and educational services in large group settings as well as one-on-one situations. It acts as an advocate for persons with PWS by participating in residential, educational and other planning and team meetings. It is responsible for organizing parent and professional workshops and training.
Other Services:
- Publishes quarterly newsletter, The Wisconsin Connection, which keeps members informed and updated on issues related to persons with disabilities as well as specific issues related to Prader-Willi syndrome.
- Sponsors an annual social event where the nutritional and behavioral needs of persons with Prader-Willi syndrome are carefully considered and addressed.
- Awards camp scholarships &financial assistance to those in need.
- Facilitates support meetings for parents of children with Prader-Willi syndrome in communities across the State of Wisconsin
